Last year for my birthday, I was given four baby rabbits. Three females and a male.
This year my bunnies are all grown up, and they are having little baby bunnies of their own!
Does that make me a grandmother? Hm.
On Thursday morning two of my lady rabbits gave birth to their very own litters of kits (miniature rabbits).
Here's one at three days old...
Their eyes won't open until somewhere around day ten, at which point they will begin to venture out of the nest (yes...rabbits make nests!).
Right now they are pretty vulnerable, very cute and extra squirmy, so I will have to post more photos later!
We were able to count them though, and found out that one mama had ten and the other had eight. That gives us a grand total of eighteen new rabbits! (So that's what they meant when they said "multiply like rabbits").
What are we going to do with all of these bunnies? Become crazy bunny people? (Better than crazy cat people). We are planning on selling however many we can, and then (skip to next paragraph if you are a vegetarian, or if you still think that 'meat' is just something you buy at the grocery store)...make a meal of them. I hear rabbit stew is quite tasty.
We also have peas, potatoes, lima beans, grean beans, onions and tomatoes growing in the garden! This is the stuff I live on!
For as cute as bunnies are they sure start off ugly! And yes - rabbit simmered in your garden produce of potatoes, beans, onions and carrots is very tasty.
