It's that time of year, and we have been BUSY here at the House. Between college graduation, Christmas and New Years we have been going nonstop for the past month.
We haven't been able to do a whole lot on the house, but it has now hosted two holiday parties and lots of tours! Cory is the Tour Guide and I'm the Historian. We make a pretty good team if I do say so myself!
Since I haven't been able to post about the House lately...I will show you what we have been up to instead!
Cory and I started off with a vacation day to the 8th Annual Sandstone Ice Festival, in Sandstone, Minnesota. It was a blast! And before you say that this looks dangerous - it is dangerous! That's why we are wearing harnesses, helmets and are tied into ropes!
We are both avid rock climbers and are just starting to get into the sport of ice climbing, so this was a real treat!
The day after ice climbing, we had our first get together at the Mayhew House! We had a few (more like twelve) of our closest friends over for a housewarming dinner to show off the new place and celebrate Christmas early! The only pictures of this I remembered to take were of the cupcakes I made (fyi, those furry frosted ones with the red noses...those are Rudolph reindeer cupcakes!).
After that I made it through a crazy week of college finals and then....GRADUATED! I am done with my undergraduate degree! Yippie!
I'd say graduating college was a pretty great Christmas present in itself! But I'm lucky and got to celebrate Christmas Eve and Christmas with my family. We even celebrated Christmas Eve at the House!
Apparently when you have as much space as we do, you get these types of requests. It was a little bit of a zoo, but also a ton of fun!
Here's our Christmas tree! We cut this 9' beast out of my parent's front yard....and with a little trimming and some sparkling decorations it looks great. I think the sleeping pups in front add a nice touch too.
We still have New Years to go yet, and there are only FIVE more days left in 2012! We hope that everyone has had a happy holiday season and a great year!
Merry Christmas,
Cory & Kay
