The last remnants of Winter are melting away into puddles and streams that will fuel the new growth of Spring.
Because we moved to Mayhew House in November, we never really got to see it in the Spring and Summer months, when everything is green and alive. Even when we were first looking at the house in mid-October, most everything was on its way to shades of brown.
This has made the past few weeks more of an adventure than ever.
As the snow melts, we have been finding a few treasures such as this:
I'm not entirely sure what they are, but my guess is some sort of daylily...or something similar. If you look closely, you can see dozens of the wonderful GREEN growth poking out of the ground along the edge of the House.
We also have a huge stand of ...bush-things, that run along the road and serve as the boundary of the front yard. When we moved in we were told that they were lilacs! One of my favorites!!
They already have buds on them, so we'll have to see what grows.
We're also hoping for a decent amount of raspberry bushes. We have already found a few...and then there are a few more that we aren't so sure about.
The mystery of it is pretty intriguing, but let's hope for fragrant lilacs and raspberry jam!
Some look like crocus popping out of the ground, Kay.
