I am ashamed.
So here's a post to make up for that, to earn your forgiveness, and to show you what we have been up to for the past month at the Mayhew House!
As I have mentioned before, most of what we are able to do here depends a lot on the weather.
Right now we are buried under about three feet of accumulated snow and the temperatures have been creeping their way toward the 20's - lower 30's. We are still a good two months away from being safe from snowfall, but it's a start.
Because it's still not quite warm enough to begin work outside, we have started to build the interior of the Shop. The upper floor we are turning into a guesthouse, and the basement will remain a workshop.
Here is a picture of what the shop looks like right now!
We...ahem...Cory, has framed two bedrooms and a bathroom in the main portion of the main level. It's a little bit difficult to distinguish in the picture, but the two bedrooms are on the far end and the middle with the bathroom on the left (where the ladder is).
Because it hasn't been very warm, the guesthouse is being heated with a wood stove. Mmmm toasty!
S'mores anyone?!
In other news...
On Tuesday...yes THIS Tuesday we will be getting in an order of baby chicks! Little fluffy, chirpy, balls of absolute cuteness!
It's safe to say that I am just a touch more excited about this then Cory is...though it is a mystery to me how someone could resist emitting squeals and saying "Awwww!".
A pic of one of our chicken nuggets from last year!
I will try my best to keep updates on the house and the rest of the Mayhew property coming! I really hope that things will begin to pick up as Spring approaches!
