Fall is almost upon us. The calendar marks September 22nd as the official first day of Autumn.
Oh how the summer flew by! Here in Minnesota, the last two weeks have brought a transformation from hot and humid to cool and rainy. The temperature has dropped at least twenty degrees. There was even talk of turning on the heat the day before last. Summer hasn't given up yet, however. The tomatoes are trying their hardest to finish ripening before the first frost hits and the leaves are still green.
I won't deny, I love, love, love, Fall. It is my favorite season! I just can't get enough scarves and sweaters and cool crisp air. And once the leaves start turning red and gold.....mmmmm!
Things at the house and farm are going well. Cory spent the last two weeks working on the well...something about a thingy in the ground. Long story short, the ugly pumphouse that was in the middle of the yard, is now gone and the pump system is underground! Our yard is so much more OPEN now! He has also finished the electric wiring for the guesthouse!
My baby chicken nuggets have also grown up over the summer, and one of my young orpington hens has started to lay eggs! For each of the past four days we've gotten one small, perfect brownish-pink egg! Her's are only about half the size of the eggs laid by my older hens, but she is laying consistenly in size, shape and color. Pretty impressive for a new layer!
I hope you are all having a great start of Fall! Enjoy the moderate temperatures while you can before winter freezes us for another six months!
Best of Wishes!
Love,
Kay
